Hair Extension Maintenance Tip

Have you recently had hair extensions added by a hair extension technician? If yes, it is really important that you maintain your extensions. Please refer to this previous post I provided which has heaps of info on getting the most out of your hair.

One additional point I’d like to make is follow up maintenance. You really should go back to the extension technician about 2-3 weeks after having them added. This will allow your hair to be checked to make sure everything is in order. It will also give you a chance to ask any questions which you’re more than likely going to have. So if you recently added the extensions, why not book in an appointment now? Don’t just leave the extensions for 3-6 months, by that time if you’re doing something wrong it will be too late.

One other quick side point. Check with your hair extension technician what the costs are (if any) for additional check ups. In some cases, the costs are really high and you may not have any alternative but to pay up. This is especially important for those girls who live in small towns which may only have one hair extension technician.

Will Swimming Damage Hair Extensions?

If you’ve read my previous post on getting the most out of your hair extensions you’ll know that it’s best to avoid chlorinated swimming pools and the beach. But a lot of women don’t have this luxury and need to take a few precautions to ensure they don’t end up with matted or damaged hair extensions.

How To Reduce Hair Extension Split Ends

There is nothing worse that spending a lot of money on hair extensions and finding loads of split ends a week later. If you do find split ends it is important that you trim them off as soon as possible. Split ends that aren’t dealt with will work their way up the hair (not a good look).

A leave in conditioning treatment is a good idea once you’ve removed split ends as they help reconstruct the hair. But the ideal way to have great looking hair extensions is to take a few simple steps to reduce split ends popping up:

Hair Extension Care – Using X-Ten

A couple of weeks ago I posted an article on hair extension care products. This post was a quick one that just gave a few ingredients to avoid when you’re searching for shampoo, conditioner and leave-in conditioner products. It also recommended a few brands which are good for helping extend the life of your hair extensions.

A New Hair Extension Care Brand

To follow up on that post, I have recently come across a new product called x-ten specifically designed for hair extensions. Personally, I haven’t used the product; however, a client of mine who is a long-time user of extensions let me know about it. She’s tried all the major brands like Paul Mitchell but found x-ten really revitalised her extensions and prolonged the extension’s life.
