As you’d expect, a micro ring (also called a bead and many other names) is used when attaching hair extensions using the micro ring method. A micro ring is the ring which is used to attach the extension to the natural hair. The rings generally are made of aluminium but some are made of a type of plastic.
You are able to buy the micro rings separately or they can be purchased already attached to the hair. The second method makes it a lot easier to add the extension and they’re my preferred product. If you buy the rings separately, you’ll need to purchase a threader to pull the natural hair through the ring.
Micro rings come in a range of sizes, and you can even add two rings instead of one. In general, the larger the ring, the better the extension will hold. However, the bigger the ring, the more visible the attachment is which isn’t really desirable. Usually trial and error of a few different ring types is the best way to find the perfect size.
