Asian hair extensions are a lot more commonly used than you may think. When this hair is removed from the donors head, it is generally thicker than European and Indian hair. It is also black or dark brown in its natural form.
Asian hair is too thick to be added to most women from Western countries and therefore needs to be processed so that it is suitable for sale. The hair is commonly added to acid baths which makes it thinner and, if necessary, lighter. The main problem with this process is that the cuticles will be badly damaged which results in duller, drier hair that tangles more easily. To try to reduce this problem, manufacturers add a silicone coating to the hair to improve the hair’s shine and managability. Unfortunately this coating doesn’t tend to last long and eventually the hair will revert to it’s old form. Chinese hair that hasn’t been overly processed is actually quite good for women with thicker hair.
